Duck Key Speaks Out on Bridge Project Failures

Judith and Monroe County Officials,

AEB contractually defaults on Harbour Bridge today after 575 days!  Monroe County refuses to hold them accountable to their contract and will not implement liquidated damages.   Monroe County also continues to publish completely unrealistic completion dates saying the project will be 100% complete in September.   (Total BS in my opinion)     As of today they are less than 50% complete with the Harbour bridge.  4-22-25 Harbour Pictures https://photos.app.goo.gl/Drv3kWZFxgsfSRiD6

I have repeatedly challenged the published bridge completion dates that Monroe continues to publish, which has made every resident in Duck Key believe you have no control over the contractor and continue to publish unrealistic completion dates in support of AEB's non performance.   You have made the decision to contract with General Asphalt, who has subcontracted the Seaview Bridge to AEB.  How can they be a qualified contractor after their continued non-performance on Duck Key?

The New published Seaview Project timeline calls for the bridge to be complete January 6, 2026.  While they are working on the bridge now,  you have published the first set of precast arched beams will only be shipped the first week of June.  Is the published completion date a realistic date?  First Harbour beams were delivered February 11th and 12th and the first half of the bridge will not open until the end of May at the earliest. How are they going to make the published completion date?

Duck Key residents deserve realistic completion dates for both bridges.   Monroe's continued acceptance of AEB non performance needs to stop.  Be truthful and publish real completion dates that the County will hold AEB and if you wish General Asphalt accountable to.   After eight years working on this project it is time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
